Construction of Accident and Emergency Care Units

- The Cabinet of Ministers has already approved the Policy on Accident and Emergency Care Services in Government Hospitals. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the relevant consultancy services contract to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) and the construction contract to the Central Engineering Services (Pvt) Ltd, which functions under the CECB, to enable the expeditious construction of the Accident and Emergency Care Units of the following hospitals, was approved by the Cabinet.

* District General Hospital, Kalutara - Rs.468.84 million
* District General Hospital, Polonnaruwa - Rs.467.17 million
* Teaching Hospital, Jaffna - Rs.589.82 million
* Base Hospital, Kalmunei North - Rs.374.22 million.
