Vesting the Ownership of Farms maintained in the State Lands by National Livestock Development Board, with the said Board, on Long Term Lease Basis

- The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) maintains 13 farms on State lands throughout the Island in order to provide quality support services to the farmers and entrepreneurs for the development of the livestock sector in Sri Lanka. However, the ownership or the lease rights of such lands have not yet been vested on the said Board and the said lands remain as State lands. As such, the joint proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Rural Economy, and Hon. M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, the Minister of Lands, to transfer the lands on which the NLDB farms are situated, to the National Livestock Board on long term lease basis, enabling the implementation of necessary plans designed to more productively develop and expand the said farms, was approved by the Cabinet.
