Building Complex for the Faculty of Health Care Sciences in the Eastern University
- The Faculty of Health Care Sciences of the Eastern University was established in 2004 with 06 study departments and currently about 425 students read for the Bachelors degree courses in Medicine, Surgery (MBBS) and Science Nursing in this faculty which is situated in the Batticaloa District. Presently, this Faculty functions at a temporary building taken over from the Paddy Marketing Board. The Ministry of Higher Education and Highways has prepared estimates to construct a new building complex for this Faculty and a sum of US$ 47.3 million (Rs.6,617.5 million) is required for the purpose. Out of this sum, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has agreed to provide US$ 34 million, as a concessionary loan and as such, the proposal made by the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to enter into the relevant agreement for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
