50,000 accelerated Housing Development Programme implemented by the National Housing Development Authority

- 'Shelter for All' ('Samata Sevana') 50,000 Housing Programme launched under the 100 day programme of the Government operates in accordance with the community participatory method and as of now, construction activities of 35,290 houses are in progress. The estimated cost for the entire project is Rs.5,000 million and out of which a sum of Rs.1,328.45 million has already been incurred by now. The proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to secure the funds further required to complete this programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
