Epilepsy Hospital and Healthcare Centres Project

- The Government of Sri Lanka with the assistance of the Saudi Fund for Development, commenced the construction of a Modern State of the Art Hospital for the treatment of the Epileptic patients in Sri Lanka in the year 2008. The implementation of this project was somewhat delayed due to various reasons and by now 90.5% of the project has been completed. The hospital is due to be opened for clinical purposes in December, 2015. The proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, to obtain the additional sum of about US$ 12 million further required for the purpose from the Saudi Fund for Development, for providing the necessary enhanced facilities to render a greater service to the people, was approved by the Cabinet.
