- An Officials' Committee has been appointed, by the Cabinet to investigate into the activities of the Defence Headquarters Complex which is being constructed at Akuregoda, Battaramulla, and to report on same. The attention of the Cabinet was drawn to the following facts mentioned in the Officials' Committee Report, with regard to a company to which the consultancy services of this project have been awarded, that is,

* the company has been selected without calling competitive bids;

* the company has been registered under the Registrar of Companies and under the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, only after it has been selected for consultancy services;

* the authorities concerned have not entered into a formal Agreement, to obtain services of the said company;

* it has been decided to pay the said company Rs.606.032 million in cash, for the consultancy services of the entire project; Although, the company has been paid Rs.509.926 million as at 2015-05-31, (83% of the total payment) it has only completed 30.02% of the entire work of the project as of now.

The Cabinet decided to investigate into the above facts mentioned in the Officials' Committee Report pertaining to the Consultancy Services Company and to take legal action, on the findings of the said investigation, as appropriate.
