Holding of the 34th Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) and the 06th APFIC Regional Consultative Forum in Sri Lanka

- Asia-Pacific Fisheries Commission (APFIC) is a regional fisheries body established under the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, to promote the comprehensive and proper utilization of aquatic resources in the Asia-Pacific region through the development and management strategies and by improving fishing related processing and marketing activities in conformity with the objectives of its member countries. The proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, to hold the 6th Regional Consultative Forum of the above Commission from 8th to 11th February 2016 and its 34th Session from 12th to 14th February 2016 in Sri Lanka and to provide host facilities by the Government of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
