Central Expressway

- The road from Kadawatha to Meerigama is scheduled to be constructed as the first section of the Central Expressway. The section from Kossinna to Meerigama, of approximately 5km in length, will be constructed from the funds saved after discussions held with contractor of the third section of the outer circular road, and the relevant contractor has already commenced the preliminary work. As per the decision made by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Matters, on the recommendation of the Negotiation Committees appointed by the Ministry of Finance, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, to award the contract for the construction of section from Kossinna to Meerigama, of 32.55km in length, was approved by the Cabinet.
