- The National Safety Day falls on 26th December every year. The proposal made by Hon. A.H.M. Fowzie, the Minister of Disaster Management, to conduct the national programme to mark the National Safety Day of this year, in Polonnaruwa district, under the main theme of 'A safe Sri Lanka' and the sub-theme of 'let us unite to eliminate disasters', and to implement a series of island?wide programmes simultaneously in collaboration with the other Ministries and Departments, was approved by the Cabinet.
