- The Cabinet approval has already been granted for the implementation of 22 water supply projects for the expansion of pipe-born water supply service on a priority basis, with the funds secured from the local banks. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to issue a Treasury Guarantee in respect of obtaining a loan facility of a sum of Rs.3,499 million from the Bank of Ceylon, by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), for the implementation of said 22 water supply projects, was approved by the Cabinet.
