- Taking into consideration the proposals made with regard to the revision of the Rabies Ordinance and the Dog Registration Ordinance, under the programme of updating the legislation related to the Local Government sector, to suit with the present needs of the country, the Cabinet appointed an Officials' Committee to explore the possibility of consolidation of the said two (02) Ordinances. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Karu Jayasuriya, the Minister of Public Administration, Local Government and Democratic Governance, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft a new Bill consolidating the Rabies Ordinance No.07 of 1893 and the Dog Registration Ordinance No.25 of 1901, as recommended by the above Committee, to enable the successful implementation of the functions entrusted in two Ordinances under one single Act, was approved by the Cabinet.
