- One of the steps taken to further strengthen the civil administration established after the end of the conflict situation is enhancement of the Police Stations and the Government Institutions in the Northern Province. Accordingly, the approval of the Cabinet, for the construction of the Police Stations in Jaffna and Point Pedro has already been granted and as such, it has become necessary to increase the total estimated cost related to the construction of these police stations. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. John Amarathunga, the Minister of Public Order and Christian Affairs, to revise the total estimated cost related to the construction of the Police Station in Jaffna from Rs.294.8 million to Rs.484.1 million and the total cost estimate related to the construction of the Police Station in Point Pedro from Rs.119 million to Rs.176 million, and to complete the balance work of said projects expeditiously, was approved by the Cabinet.
