- It is expected to supply pipe borne water to the areas not yet covered in Kelaniya, Kadawatha, Wattala, Peliyagoda, Mahara, Ragama, Biyagama, Welisara, Kandana, Ja-Ela and Ekala areas, and to improve the existing water supply facilities through the above proposed Water Treatment Plant with a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters per day. The proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to award the contract for the implementation of the proposed project, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
