- The proposal made by Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, to vest the activities of the project with the Urban Development Authority, to instruct the Central Environment Authority to commence a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment in association with other relevant institutions and to consider the re-commencement of the activities of the project, after completing the said assessment, as recommended by the Cabinet Sub?Committee on Economic Affairs considering the recommendations of the Senior Officials' Committee comprising of Secretaries to the Ministries appointed by the Cabinet, to report on the issues arisen, pertaining to the implementation of the above project and the progress achieved in the project activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
