- It has been decided to introduce a “Special Ranaviru Card” and a “Badge” for the purpose of identification of the war heroes of the Three Armed Forces, the Police and the Department of Civil Security who sacrificed their lives for achieving peace in Sri Lanka, who were missing in action and disabled, and their dependants, with a view to providing them with various benefits. The war heroes and the members of their families will be afforded with an opportunity of receiving various services with ease from around 50 Public and Private Sector institutions, through this programme. When obtaining services under this programme, they will be entitled to special benefits such as recognition, priority, discounts, concessionary methods of payment, interest free loan facilities, insurance facilities, transport services, health services, recreational needs and scholarships. The Cabinet noted the above information furnished to the Cabinet by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence.
