- The Weeraketiya Town has been identified for development under the Small and Medium Scale Town Development Project, in the year 2014 by the Urban Development Authority. The proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to award the contract for the construction of the pavilion of the stadium to the State Engineering Corporation, was approved by the Cabinet.
