- The Sri Lanka Postal Department which is more than 200 years old by now, is implementing programmes of efficient and quality services using the newest technologies and new marketing concepts that suit the changing customer requirements. At the same time, it lends the services of the Department as well as agency services to various government, semi-government and the private sector institutions. The Department has a strong post office net work consisting of around 4063 Post Offices spread island-wide and out of which 653 Post Offices have been successfully provided with the new technology through the network. The proposal made by the Minister of Muslim Religious Affairs and Posts, M.H.A.Haleem to implement the business services expeditiously and transparently without the Department having to incur additional financial expenditure, was approved by the Cabinet.
