Declaration of Sri Lanka Maritime Week from 21st to 27th September 2015, in line with the World Maritime Day that falls on the 25th of September, 2015 - The International Maritime Organization with the auspices of the United Nations had declared 25th day of September 2015 as the World Maritime Day aimed at promoting the Maritime Activities and the Global Economic Development. The theme for 2015 World Maritime Day is 'Maritime Education and Training'. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports and Shipping, Arjuna Ranathunga, to declare September 21- 27 of 2015 as the Sri Lanka Maritime Week and to implement the proposed programmes during the period, was approved by the Cabinet. |
