- The "International Network for Water and Eco-system in Paddy Fields" is an international co-operation forum established in the year 2004, with the objective of sustaining a proper water management, while focusing on the sustainability of eco-system in the paddy cultivation lands. The proposal made by Hon. Gamini Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza, the Minister of Irrigation, to host the 12th Steering Committee Meeting and the Symposium of this International Network, with the participation of 17 member countries, in November 2015, was approved by the Cabinet.
