- The scientists who conduct researches on the affliction of the Chronic Kidney Disease have pointed out that the use of chemical fertilizer, pesticides and weedicides could be a contributory factor for the said disease. Accordingly, the government has already banned totally the import of identified four (04) chemical fertilizer and weedicides. In addition, the implementation of the decision taken by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to totally ban the import and use of Glyphosate weedicide, as it is, was approved by the Cabinet.
