Dry Zone Urban Water and Sanitation Project - Providing alternative lands for the people affected due to the construction of Peru Aru Reservoir in Vavuniya - The above project is implemented by the Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to improve the water supply and sanitation in the dry zone towns of Vauniya, Mannar, Chilaw, and Puttalam. The joint proposal made by Hon. M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, the Minister of Lands and Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Ministers of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to provide alternative lands as outright grants to 88 persons who were deprived of their lands due to the construction of the Peru-Aru Reservoir in Vavuniya under this project, was approved by the Cabinet. |
