- The divisional services and infrastructure facilities will be improved under the 'Pura Neguma' Project which is being implemented during the five year period from 2010-2015, under a grant of US$50 million provided by the World Bank, covering 80 Local Government Institutes in Northern and Eastern Provinces. The proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, to conduct negotiations to seek additional funds for the project, and to enter into an agreement to obtain a loan of US$ 20 million from the International Development Association of the World Bank, for the component of the project which is being carried out through utilizing the Sri Lankan funds, was approved by the Cabinet.
