Bandaranaike International Airport Development Project - Phase 2 (II)

- It is expected to develop the infrastructure facilities essential for the enhancement of the Bandaranaike International Airport, enabling the increase of the present annual passenger handling capacity of the Airport from 7.4 million to 15 million by 2020, through this Project. The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a sum of Japanese Yen 45,428 million (approximately LKR 48,969 million) to the Government of Sri Lanka, through the Japan International Co?operation Agency (JICA), for the purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Minister of Policy Planning, Economic Affairs, Child, Youth and Cultural Affairs, to enter into an agreement with the Government of Japan, to obtain such funds and to proceed with the activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
