- At present, a Monitoring Committee has been appointed to deal with the Chronic Kidney Disease which is spreading rapidly and relevant Sub?Committees have also been established under the said Committee. The entire process relating to this effort is being coordinated through the Kidney Disease Prevention Co?ordination Unit established under the Presidential Secretariat. Various parties including National and International Civil Organizations and individuals interested in activities pertaining to the prevention of the disease and its spreading have expressed their willingness to contribute towards the proposed Fund and a contribution of Rs. 7 million has already been received towards the Fund. The proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to establish the National Kidney Fund proposed by the budget proposals 2015 of the new Government, under the Presidential Secretariat, was approved by the Cabinet.
