- Around 200,000 persons including school children, teachers and Navy officers visit the Sri Lanka Planetarium established in 1965, every year. The Exploratorium is an exciting place which offers creative and thought provoking environment having exhibits, tools and projects for promoting curiosities. The proposal made by the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Dr. Sarath Amunugama to develop an Exploratorium at the Sri Lanka Planetarium and to explore the possibility of receiving grant aid from international sources, was approved by the Cabinet.
