- The Makumbura new Township Development has been identified by the Urban Development Authority and the Ministry of Transport specially as a Transport Hub connecting both Bus and Rail, to cater to the needs of the commuter population. Under this programme it is anticipated to construct a Bus Terminal, Railway Station, Bus/Car/Taxi Park and the related road networks. The proposal made by the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, Hon. Rauff Hakeem to award the contract of the construction of the Multi-model Center at Makumbura with the Loan Assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, was approved by the Cabinet.
