- The Defence Services Command and Staff College is the highest Military Training Institution in the island and it provides training to the Middle Level Officers of the three (03) Armed Forces and the Police. The institution also provides to selected officers the knowledge, skills and advance command vital to hold high level posts of the three (03) Armed Forces whilst grooming them for managerial activities. The proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defence to provide training opportunities for 27 foreign military officers as an opportunity afforded to the officers of the three (03) Armed Forces of Sri Lanka to be trained jointly with the foreign military officers, as a mark of friendship and a way of sharing the knowledge and experience of the foreign military officers, was approved by the Cabinet.
