Extension of the USAID Agreements

- Since 1956, US supported Programmes have been implemented in Sri Lanka on the sectors of health, education and technical training and agricultural and livelihood development, environment and natural resource management, local governance and humanitarian assistance. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) continues to work with Sri Lanka to address the key development priorities towards achieving good governance, economic growth and humanitarian assistance. The proposal made by the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of Policy Planning, Economic Affairs, Child, Youth and Cultural Affairs to extend the period of the agreements related to the programmes in progress, with a view to gaining the potential benefits, was approved by the Cabinet.
