- The Government, since the year 2004, implements the programme of distributing uniforms to the teachers who serve voluntarily in Dhamma Schools throughout the country. The proposal made by the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Hon. Karu Jayasuriya to procure 30,000 local handloom sarees with jacket pieces (uniforms) at the rate of Rs.1,400/- each, worth of Rs.42 million from the Department of Textile Industries which is a state entity, under this programme, for the year 2015, was approved by the Cabinet.
