Registering a Government owned Company to operate International Arbitration Centre

- Considering the potentials and the professional standards of the legal sector prevalent in the country, the attention has been focused to develop Sri Lanka as a regional hub allied to legal services. As a step towards achieving this goal, an International Centre for Arbitration was established in Sri Lanka with the objective of meeting the demands of the International Business Community, for an impartial, efficient and reliable dispute resolution mechanism in Asia. The activities of this centre is expected to be commenced from the month of May this year and the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Hon. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, to establish a company owned by the Government to curry out its administrative functions successfully, was approved by the Cabinet.
