- The 'Gaalu Samaya' festival and the carnival comprising of agricultural, trade and industrial exhibitions aimed at tourist attraction was held in high glamour in the year 2008 and 2009 in the Galle City to expose the world the beauty, the dignity and the splendour of the Southern Sri Lanka, especially of the Galle District. The Minister of Public Administration, Local Government and Democratic Governance, Hon. Karu Jayasuriya brought to the notice of the Cabinet that the necessary arrangements have been made to hold the 'Gaalu Samaya - 2015' festival and carnival on 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of December this year in the Galle City, with the cooperation of both the Southern Provincial Council and the Galle Municipal Council.
