- The Asian Conference on Remote Sensing held annually to explore the possibilities of using the latest technology on surveying and mapping and it is a prestigious annual event organized by the Asian Association on Remote Sensing and its host country. It is held in rotation in the countries within the Asia Pacific Region to promote Remote Sensing Technology and its applications. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, the Minister of Lands, to host the 37th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing in Sri Lanka, during the months of October and November,2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
