- The Energy Sector Development Plan has been developed with a view to making available the maximum contribution of the energy sector for the strength required for development drive which strides along competing at international levels, making Sri Lanka as knowledge based middle income economy. The prime objective of this Plan is to provide an affordable, high quality and reliable energy supply for all citizens irrespective of their being rich of poor, while preserving the environment and giving priority to the indigenous sources of energy and minimizing regional disparities. The proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Power and Energy, to implement the development plan (2015-2025), was approved by the Cabinet.
