- It has been decided to hold State Wesak Festival this year at the Maiyangana sacred area in the Badulla District and it is anticipated to seek the patronage / sponsorship of the private sector for selected programmes that will be held in parallel with the Wesak Festival. The proposal made by Minister of Buddha Sasana Hon.Karu Jayasuriya to obtain necessary financial allocation to carry out the activities envisaged under the State Wesak Festival, was approved by the Cabinet.
