- The Chronic Kidney Decease, the root cause of which has not yet been identified precisely, continues to spread in the North Central, North Western, Uva, Central, Eastern and Nothern Provinces of Sri Lanka and views have been expressed that the Hydro - Geological constituents in the drinking water to be the cause of the decease. The proposal made by Mr, Rauff Hakeem, Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Research Centre for Science in China and the Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage for conducting further research in this regard, was approved by the Cabinet.
