- Northern Province International Relations Centre which is under construction at Kankasanthurai in Jaffna, on a decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers in January 2014, is equipped with several facilities such as water, electricity, telephone and internet and has a floor area of 113,000 sq. ft. In addition, this complex, consists of an internal road network, a garden, two swimming pools, generators, elevators and water treatment plants. At present, nearly 70% of the work on the construction has been completed. The approved estimated cost of this construction is Rs.1587.8 Mn. and the expenditure incurred for the work carried out so far amounts to Rs. 966.3 Mn. The proposal made by H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, the President, to complete only the essential balance work in line with the engineering plan and to vest the building complex in a government, semi-government or any other suitable institution for public use, was approved by the Cabinet.
