- The proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, Minister of Tourism and Sports, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of Qatar for the development of Sports was approved by the Cabinet. In this regard the parties will work for the development of Sports and Cooperation inclusive of the following areas:

* sports for persons with special needs
* control of prohibited stimulants
* management and maintenance of sports facilities
* training camps
* cooperation in all fields related to sports movement and its development
* any other sports cooperation agreed upon
