Second Phase of the renovation of the Superior Courts Complex Building

The Superior Courts Complex Building where the Supreme Court, Appeals Court and the Ministry of Justice of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka are housed, was constructed by the Chinese Government in the decade of 1980 and on a request made by the Government of Sri Lanka to the Government of the Republic of China, the 1st phase of its renovations was successfully completed in the years 2013 and 2014 as a free gift from the Chinese Government. The proposal made by Hon. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha, Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, to enter into a preliminary Agreement with the Republic of China to bring a specialized Chinese Team of Designers to the country to attend to initial designing of the following renovations as the second phase of the said renovations to be carried out as a gift from the Chinese Government, was approved by the Cabinet:

* structural changes to the layout of the building
* repairs to the entire electrical system
* repairs to the drainage system
* repairs to the telephone system
* repairs to the fire guard system and
* repairs to the air conditioning system
