The programme to provide fertilizer to the farmers at low prices under the Government's fertilizer subsidy scheme is handled by the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited and the Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Limited which function under the Ministry of Irrigation and Agriculture. The proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, Minister of Irrigation and Agriculture to procure fertilizer on the recommendations made by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
