Construction of Houses for Plantation Communities affected by landslides or living in high risk landslide prone areas

- In accordance with the studies and assessments made by the National Building Research Organization, the Plantation Community affected by landslides and living in high risk landslides prone areas should expeditiously be resettled in safer locations. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Palani Digambaram, Minister of Plantation Infrastructure Development, to construct houses at government expense under the 100 days programme to resettle the plantation workers who were affected by landslides and arson or relocated elsewhere due to risks of landslides, was approved by the Cabinet. It was also noted that 300 houses will be constructed during the year 2015 under this programme.
