- This programme envisages uplifting of 36,822 villages in 14,023 Grama Niladhari Divisions covering the entire Island with the community participation. In this context, identifying projects, planning, implementing, supervising, reviewing, managing and maintaining projects, and the decision making process will have direct community participation. Under this programme Rs. one million will be provided to each village and a village will have a project worth of Rs.1.25 million with a contribution of 25% by the community. The above proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, was approved by the Cabinet.
