- The proposal made by Hon. John Amarathunga, Minister of Public Order, Disaster Management and Christian Affairs, to present in Parliament the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman to amend the Immigration and Emigration Act, No.20 of 1948 to enable the Department of Immigration and Emigration, which is the authority to issue and renew passports, to take finger prints of the applicant for inclusion in the passports, was approved by the Cabinet.
