Proposed Welfare Measures for Migrant Workers under the 100 Days Programme of the Government

Hon. Thalatha Atukorala, Minister of Foreign Employment informed the Cabinet that the Ministry of Foreign Employment has made arrangements to implement a Welfare Programme for the Migrant workers through Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, under the 100 Days Programme of the Government, with the participation and cooperation of the Ministry of Women's Affairs and the State Ministry of Children's Affairs. The Welfare Programmes to be implemented are as follows:

(i) Welfare and safety measures to be implemented in Pre Departure Stage;

(ii) Welfare and safety measures to be implemented in Service Stage;

(iii) Programmes to be implemented in Return and Re-integration stage; and

(iv) Welfare measures to be implemented for the family dependents of migrant workers.
