Port City Development Project

- In the Interim Report submitted by the Committee appointed to review the project and make recommendations to the Cabinet Sub?Committee on Economic Affairs, revealed that the activities of the project is being implemented without the proper regulatory clearances from all related institutions. Taking into consideration the recommendations made in the Interim Report, the proposal made Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, to temporarily suspend the operations of the project with immediate effect and to inform the company carrying out the project to produce valid permits/approvals if they have, in order to implement the project, within two weeks, was approved by the Cabinet.
