Proposed Pension Scheme for Migrant Workers to be introduced under the accelerated 100 days programme of the Government

- The 100 days programme of the Government envisages to establish a Social Security Fund for the migrant workers with the contributions made by the employers, migrant workers and the Government of Sri Lanka and to provide relief there under to all migrant workers including house maids and unskilled workers who engage in services under tiring conditions.

The proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, Minister of Foreign Employment, to appoint a Committee comprising of relevant stakeholders including Public Officers, representatives of Foreign Employment Agencies and Rataviruwo Organization to design the proposed Pension Scheme and to make proposals thereon, was approved by the Cabinet.
