"Ceylon Tea Expo 2015" in Sri Lanka

- The year 2017 marks the 150th year since the first commercial tea venture was introduced in Sri Lanka and as such it is proposed to organize the Tea Expo Exhibition in 2017 instead in 2015 to be parallel to the commemoration of the 150th Anniversary with the participation of stakeholders of the entire tea industry including the local producers and exporters. The proposal made by the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Plantation Industries, to make it an opportunity to create a promotional avenue for Sri Lanka tea in the World Market with a view to popularizing and fetching a high price for Sri Lanka tea, was approved by the Cabinet.
