- The Government has pledged to increase the Samurdhi Relief Assistance by 200% under the instant relief programme to be implemented by the Government within 100 Days and the Minister of Finance has proposed to implement it from April 2015, through the Interim Budget - 2015. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, to take necessary action in that regard, was approved by the Cabinet.
