- Estimates have, by now, been prepared on the damages caused to the minor and major irrigation systems due to excessive rains and floods during the latter part of 2014. Accordingly, the damages caused in 1348 places in the major irrigation systems in 13 districts and the 2132 damaged places in the minor irrigation systems in 15 districts have been identified. The proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, Minister of Irrigation and Agriculture, to repair the damages caused in the irrigation systems before the commencement of the Yala Season 2015, was approved by the Cabinet.
