- The Cabinet noted that 'food security along with sustainable agriculture' is a priority sector identified in the Election Manifesto of His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena, and that Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, Minister of Food Security, has taken action to establish a “Food Security Operation Room” with the view to collecting, compiling and analyzing food production and imports related activities to regulate the market of the main food items through suitable policy initiatives. The Cabinet further noted that it is expected that this will be the focal point for dissemination of information related to strategies adopted for the food security of the country.
