- the proposed Memorandum of Understanding recognizes the importance of establishing the Nalanda University and also as a means of furtherance of ties between the student communities of the two countries. The proposal made by the Minister of Highways, Higher Education and Investment Promotion, Hon. Kabeer Hasheem to sign the above Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Highways, Higher Education and Investment Promotion of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of India with a view to strengthening the mutual cooperation between Sri Lanka and India in the field of education, was approved by the Cabinet.
